Privacy Policy

How Bc Fencing & Gates Pty Ltd collects, uses, stores and discloses personal information.

1. About this policy

Bc Fencing & Gates Pty Ltd (ABN 93 699 851 637, ACN 699 851 637) of WA 6111, Western Australia (“we”, “us”, “our”) is committed to protecting the privacy of the people whose personal information we handle.

This policy explains how we manage personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) contained in that Act. It applies to information collected through this website (bcfencinggatestec.site), by email, and in the course of quoting for and carrying out fencing and gate work.

2. What personal information we collect

We only collect personal information that is reasonably necessary for our functions and activities as a fencing and gate contractor. That generally means:

  • Contact details — your name, email address and, if you provide one, a telephone number.
  • Site and job details — the address or suburb of the property, boundary measurements, access notes, and photographs of the site that you send us or that we take while quoting or working.
  • Correspondence — the content of emails and enquiry messages you send us, and our replies.
  • Transaction records — quotes, variations, invoices and payment records relating to work we carry out for you.

We do not collect sensitive information as defined in the Privacy Act, and we ask that you do not send it to us.

3. How we collect it

We collect personal information directly from you wherever it is reasonable and practicable to do so — usually when you email us, submit the enquiry form on the contact page, or speak with us at a site measure.

We may also collect information from a third party where you have arranged for that party to deal with us on your behalf, such as a builder, property manager, strata manager or neighbour who is a party to a shared dividing fence.

4. Why we collect, hold, use and disclose it

We use personal information for the purpose for which it was provided and for directly related purposes, including to:

  • respond to enquiries and prepare written quotes;
  • schedule site measures, fabrication and installation;
  • supply, install, service or repair fencing, barriers and gates;
  • issue invoices, process payments and keep accounting records;
  • handle warranty claims, defects and service requests; and
  • meet our legal, tax and record-keeping obligations.

We do not use your personal information for unrelated purposes, and we do not sell, rent or trade it.

5. The website enquiry form

The enquiry form on our contact page does not transmit data to a server. It opens a message in your own email application, addressed to us, containing the details you have typed. Nothing is submitted until you choose to send that email, and no third-party form-processing service is involved.

6. Cookies and website analytics

This website is a static site. We do not set cookies, we do not run advertising or analytics trackers, and we do not embed third-party scripts, fonts or images that would report your visit to another party.

Our hosting provider may keep standard server logs (for example IP address, request time and page requested) for security and operational purposes. We do not use those logs to build a profile of you.

Your browser may retain its own cache of this site. You can clear it through your browser settings at any time.

7. Disclosure of personal information

We may disclose personal information to:

  • suppliers and manufacturers, where a component or material has to be ordered or a warranty claim lodged;
  • subcontractors or tradespeople engaged to assist on your job, limited to what they need to do the work;
  • our accountants, bookkeepers and professional advisers;
  • a person you have authorised to deal with us on your behalf; and
  • a court, tribunal or government body where disclosure is required or authorised by law.

We do not disclose personal information to overseas recipients in the ordinary course of our business. If that position changes, we will update this policy before doing so.

8. Storage, security and retention

We hold personal information in email systems, business records and, where relevant, cloud-based accounting or storage services. We take reasonable steps to protect it from misuse, interference and loss, and from unauthorised access, modification or disclosure — including access controls, strong authentication and limiting who within the business can see it.

We retain records for as long as we need them for the purposes described above and for as long as we are required to keep them under Australian law — including tax and business record-keeping requirements, and periods relevant to warranty and building-related claims in Western Australia. When information is no longer needed and we are not required to retain it, we take reasonable steps to destroy it or de-identify it.

No method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure. We cannot guarantee the security of information while it is in transit to us over the internet.

9. Accessing and correcting your information

Under the Australian Privacy Principles you may request access to the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it if it is inaccurate, out of date, incomplete, irrelevant or misleading.

Send your request to . We will ask you to verify your identity, and we will respond within a reasonable period. If we refuse access or correction, we will tell you why in writing and explain how to complain.

10. Anonymity

You may make a general enquiry about our services anonymously or under a pseudonym. We will not be able to prepare a quote, attend a site or carry out work without knowing who you are and where the property is.

11. Complaints

If you believe we have breached the Australian Privacy Principles or mishandled your personal information, please complain to us first at . Set out what happened and what outcome you are seeking. We will acknowledge your complaint, investigate it and respond in writing within a reasonable period.

12. Notifiable data breaches

If we become aware of a data breach that is likely to result in serious harm to any individual whose personal information we hold, we will assess it and, where the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) applies, notify the affected individuals and the OAIC as required.

13. Links to other websites

This site does not link to third-party tracking services. Where we refer you to another organisation, that organisation's own privacy policy governs how it handles your information, and we are not responsible for its practices.

14. Changes to this policy
